This exhibition is being prepared by artist NAKAZAKI Tohru and the SIAF 500 Meters volunteer team through research, workshops and meetings.
Focusing on lifestyles that make the most of winter and snow in Hokkaido, the relationship between urban development and the Olympics, and the history of skiing in Sapporo, Nakazaki will chronologically arrange exhibits related to skiing, snow mountains and the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics as well as skis and other winter tools collected in the linear exhibition space, and show videos of interviews with people involved to evoke the lifestyle, people and age associated with the tools and exhibits. He will create a space where viewers can experience, as if following ski tracks on snow, the efforts and playful spirit of Sapporo, which has developed while coexisting with snow (troublesome for living) and facing winter.
