Guest House x Gallery Project SAPPORO ARTrip- Art is the Opening to a Journey

In recent years, guest houses have been attracting attention as new bases for travel. Using such guest houses as venues, exhibitions and events will be held with the theme of travel. A brochure introducing the guest houses, participating artists and galleries will be prepared in Japanese and English.

The brochure will also contain information on SIAF2017 and places of interest in Sapporo, and copies will be sold at related places to encourage guests at the facilities and city residents to travel around Sapporo. Eight guest houses in the city will offer their spaces to exhibit works selected by four galleries in the city from 10 groups of Hokkaido-based artists as works suitable for the individual guest houses. The individual characteristics of the guest houses and those of the artists will create a synergy, making them more attractive spaces.

This project will highlight extraordinary experiences in travel, the accidental encounters of people and the history and culture of Hokkaido. A tour of the guest houses, a photography workshop in Sapporo and live performances by artists are also planned.
