The camera club was founded in 1951 in Oshamambe, Hokkaido, and had been active for about 40 years. Oshamambe was the main shooting location where the club members continuously photographed workers, pioneer farmers, fishermen and other local people who support the town. They were heavily influenced by the "photo-realism movement" and photographed specific areas in an exhaustive, long-term and collective manner.
