The live video archive of NMA (Now Music Arts), which is based in Sapporo and has introduced avant-garde music since 1983, will be open to the public at an exhibition that will also include leaflets, information magazines and other materials. Numayama Yoshiaki, who heads NMA, has organized 180 concerts by more than 200 groups (including six festivals) over 34 years. This archive contains many valuable videos from improvisatory music scenes around the world, featuring Johon Zorn and Christian Marclay in the 1980s, Otomo Yoshihide’s first live performance in 1990 and those thereafter, and Carl Stone. At the exhibition hall of the Shiryokan, the best NMA live performances selected by Numayama will be shown. Visitors can freely search and view various NMA live concert videos at the venue.
