Nikken Sekkei is a professional services firm that provides architectural design and supervision, urban design, and related research, planning, and consulting services. Since its founding in 1900, Nikken Sekkei has continued to bring visions of the future to life across Japan and around the world by carefully interpreting the local context and unique characteristics of each project while harnessing cutting-edge technologies. Established in 2021, Emotionscape Lab, Nikken Sekkei's research and design laboratory focused on human emotion and the built environment, develops spatial and environmental design approaches that create new experiences and social value.

Emotionscape Lab will lead the venue design of the Sapporo Snow Festival Odori Site for SIAF2027, applying its unique approach to place and environmental design centred on human emotion. Based on the venue concept of “Snow Square of Planet Snow”, the team will create a snow-covered landscape where visitors can explore and discover new scenery and activities. An Observatory will be installed within the square, creating a multisensory environment where visitors can experience alternative viewpoints, soundscapes, and tactile sensations. Through those experiences, the project invites visitors to discover the possibilities of public park spaces.
