Ukawa Naohiro
Born in Kagawa, 1968. Filmmaker, graphic designer, VJ, writer, professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design, and “Genzai (just now)” artist. All-around artist who is active in various fields. Ukawa Naohiro is engaged in free expression activities that blur the established fine art and pop culture frameworks. At the same time as DOMMUNE was established in March 2010, the live streaming studio and channel marked a record-setting number of viewers, attracting attention from Japan and elsewhere. A satellite studio with a width of 500 m was opened in Ars Electronica in 2016, when broadcasting from Austria attracted attention. He served as a judge for the Japan Media Arts Festival (2013 – 2015) and Ars Electronica in the category of Digital Musics & Sound Art (2015), and played three roles (general director, curator and chief judge) at the Takamatsu Media Art Festival (2015).
