Sawa Hiraki
Born in Ishikawa, 1977. Sawa explores invisible realms such as imagined scenery and feelings in memories, through video installations created by manipulating footage and 3D and 2D images. He has been releasing pieces of work stimulating the viewer’s imagination by depicting unrealistic scenery and creating a somewhat familiar world in the exhibition space. His major solo exhibitions include Under the Box, Beyond the Bounds (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, 2014) and Whirl (Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, 2012), while group exhibitions include the Lyon Biennale (2013), the Biennale of Sydney (2010) and the Asia Pacific Triennale of Contemporary Art (2009).
