"CHROMA"
Premiered in 2012 as a co-production of Dumb Type Office with Biwako Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Shiga, CHROMA was then staged to critical praise at the Festival de Marseille 2013. Inspired by Derek Jarman’s Chroma, an inquiry into colour written just before his death whilst going blind fromAIDS, and also citing Aristotle, Leonardo, Newton, Goethe and Wittgenstein on colour theory, this international project evolved around music by Simon Fisher Turner, known for his Jarman film soundtracks, and involves creative participation from diverse genres —dancers, musicians, programmers, filmmakers and others.
Pioneering new possibilities in modern dance and performance art, this Hokkaido debut at SIAF 2014 highlights the full range of artistic expression in theatre at the Festival.
