Shimabuku

Shimabuku has traveled extensively around the world since the early 1990s, executing performances and installations that explore new modes of communication relevant to the people living in the region and their customs and culture. His sometimes-peculiar actions, behaviors and works of art generate the question “Why?”, but assign the task of finding an answer to each viewer.
The environments of freedom and tolerance that Shimabuku creates have a strong power to enchant those that encounter them.
For SIAF2014, he create two new works relating to the theme of stone, based on his experiences during multiple past stays in Sapporo.
