Ryuichi Sakamoto + YCAM InterLab
Moerenuma Park will be the site of a collaborative work by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who has a long-standing interest in forests and trees, and the R&D team YCAM InterLab, part of Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media [YCAM], one of Japan’s most prestigious centers for media art.
They mounted sensors on 11 trees in Sapporo, elsewhere in Hokkaido, and elsewhere in Japan and the world, and after obtaining, compiling and analyzing their bioelectric potential data, created an installation in which this data was converted into music.
Listeners can attune themselves to the individual sounds produced by trees in different locations, and hear all the sounds merging to create a symphony that fills the entire space.〈 Moerenuma Park〉
