Fuyuki Yamakawa

musician, and performance artist who explores the body’s relationship to its environment through sound, practicing southern Siberian Khoomei multi-tonal throat singing and staging performances in which his heartbeat activates light and sound.
For SIAF2014, he focused on the Sosei River (formerly the Otomo Canal), the first manmade waterway to be dug in Sapporo.
Yamakawa paddled a Kayak self-made from second-hand clothing from Ishikari Bay up the Barato and Sosei Rivers through the point where the latter intersects with Odori Avenue (marking the beginning of the Sapporo city limits) to the Chi-Ka-Ho venue as a means of tracing the history of modernization in Sapporo.
