"Media Art" Exhibition with "Snow Removal" and "Icicle"?
“Snow removal”, which is indispensable in winter in Sapporo, “Icicles” that extend from under the eaves, and “Media Art”, an artwork that makes full use of technology. What is the result of these multiplications? Let's look for the answer at Sapporo Winter Exchange and Sapporo Icicle Festival!At art events that are showed by Sapporo Community Plaza SCARTS, a new base of the creative city Sapporo, and Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF), a triennial art festival, there are plenty of programs to enjoy the cold winter.

Sapporo Winter Interchange 2020

* Free admission "Sapporo Winter Exchange" captures the environment unique to winter and information obtained from it as "media", and various expressions. It is a project to be converted. Looking at winter from a new perspective may help you discover something different and interesting. This time, we will display media artworks and hands-on content based on research on snow removal and snow removal, which are essential for living in Sapporo. There will also be a manga panel on the theme of snow removal at the venue.

Sapporo Icicle Festival 2020

[Venue]Shiryokan( Former Saporo Court of Apeeals)[1st floor SIAF lounge, 2nd floor SIAF project room, front yard / back yard special venue] (13-chome, Odori-nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo) * Free admission (taruhi) is an ancient name of "Tsurara". ). Icicles are a natural art created in the ever-changing temperature and humidity, and a mirror of the environment. The Sapporo Icicle Festival re-discovers the winter of Sapporo by considering the icicles that are decreasing in daily life from various aspects such as art, science and culture. This year, as a culmination of our efforts so far, we will introduce more attractive works that change daily due to the winter environment in Sapporo.

Media artworks include paintings and sculptures. Completely different knowledge and skills are essential. There is an occupation called “exhibition engineer” that makes use of power supply, internet environment and special equipment to realize the exhibition. In this talk, we will welcome guests who practice this practice in Sapporo and approach their work. It is a valuable opportunity to know the back side of the media art exhibition.
